Hi All,

I know for some on you that use VirtualBox are asking why even bother using VirtualBox with Vista as the host OS. Well I don’t have a lot of good reasons other than using Outlook Express and my accounting software. So enough about that :)

I was attempting to use USB with a virtual os.Vista kept being stupid and as soon as I plugged in the USB drive boom Vista took it before VBox could get it. So when I tried to start VBox and link a USB device I kept getting this:

Capture

Okay I thought, did a google search and no one had a solution (that I could find so far). So after trial and error for about 15 minutes I found the solution.

1. Close down VBox
2. Plug USB drive in….Vista will do it’s thing…
3. Right click on My Computer –> Manage
4. A MMC dialog will pop up and click Disk Management under Storage

Should look something like this.

MMC Disk Management

5. Now on the right school down if you need to and find your jump drive.
6. Right click on the right of the jump driver where it gives details about the drive itself. Do not right click on the partition or you will get different options. (Right click where the star is)

Partition

7. Click Eject
8. Then load VBox and add the filter to the machine and presto..working.
